Dear Staff & Caregivers:

I apologize for my delay in sending pictures of me.  I’ve been with my family for seven (7) months and couldn’t be happier if I were twins!!  My mom retired from the Postal Service and dad was retired already so they’re both home most of the time.  It is fun for Pretzel (my sister, she’s the pretty girl in the pictures) and me to have mom and dad home.

Our summer routine is Mom usually gets up early (especially while it is so hot) and walks for half an hour on the treadmill that is on the front porch while Pretzel and I spend the time outside sniffing in our pretty yard or chasing each other around.  Dad has worked so hard to make the yard look nice and there are trees and flowers to sniff.  He does his special exercises in the house.  We have a big toy basket on the floor and I get out my nice chew toys and have so much fun with them; mom and dad often play with us on the floor and toss toys in the air so we can chase them.  Pretzel and I also like to bring in the newspaper and the mail.  When we do, we usually get a “people cookie” as our treat.  Mom also keeps broccoli stems and cauliflower bases in the refrigerator for us to enjoy as treats.  Dad also plays “hide” while we “seek” him.

The first picture is just a nice picture of Pretzel and me (Pecan) relaxing on mom’s blanket.
The second one is us playing in the living room.
The last one is a picture of us (on the left) relaxing (after a day of fun) in our comfy bunk beds.  I even like taking a nap in my nice bed.

Mom and dad say there is much room for improvement when I walk on a leash.  Dad says the beagle in me would have made me an excellent hunting dog.  I do love to sniff as I walk and since we live on a dirt road there are so many rabbits to chase, but no, I’m not allowed to do that!  I tend to pull so much because I get so excited.  Mom plans to take us for early morning walks after it cools down some.  The dirt roads are easier and cooler on our feet.

Many thanks to all of you for my good care while I was at the shelter.  I wish all my buddies there could be adopted into such a nice family.  Pretzel came from a shelter in Phoenix and she’s very happy also.  Mom says Pretzel is her “kissing girl.”  Being a boy, I like to wag my tail a lot and horn in every time mom tries to pet Pretzel.  Life here is so good!

Hope you enjoy the pictures!!

Much love,
