"People and Animals in a Caring Community"
Pima Animal Care Center offers these tips and suggestions to help residents understand more about its services and resources.
Immediate action is necessary! Here is what to do:
Animal Noise
Animals make noise for a variety of reasons, including protection of their owner’s property, response to new or unusual stimulus or from being left alone. However, animals that make noise routinely, over periods of time, or at disruptive times can create hard feelings between neighbors and cause them undue stress and irritability.  Please be a good neighbor and train your pet to not make excessive noise.  Click on the link to learn more about the animal noise complaint process and to find some helpful resources for animal owners and their neighbors.
Animal Waste
Rules/ Regulations and the Complaint Process

Cats
PACC does not have the authority to pick up free-roaming cats.  PACC responds to cat complaints involving bite and welfare cases. Nuisance cats may be humanely trapped and taken to our animal shelter. Check with local feed stores for trap rentals - PACC does not rent or sell traps. You may also contract with a local nuisance wildlife control company to have the animals removed - check the phone book under "PEST CONTROL".
Dead Animal Pickup
Call PACC to report dead animals on public property and along roadside. Be prepared to provide as much information as possible as to the location of the animal. Please note the address, north/south/east/west side of street, near median, shoulder, etc.
PACC cannot pick up livestock - please call 1-800-294-0305 to report dead livestock.

Loose Dogs

Dogs must be confined on the owner's property, restrained off the owner's property and on a leash in parks and public areas.
Remember that tieouts are prohibited as a method of confinement.
Any City of Tucson dog impounded at large more than once within any twelve month period shall be altered at the owner's expense, before it is released from the PACC.
Report loose dogs to the Pima Animal Care Center
in the Tucson area

Or Ajo if you are located in the Southwest area of Pima County.

Due to a high volume of calls, PACC may not be able to respond to calls about loose dogs that do not meet one of the following conditions:

  • the dog is aggressive or has bitten someone, or
  • the dog is on or very near school grounds, or
  • the dog's address is known by the caller
An Animal Care Officer can cite a loose dog's owner if:
  • the officer observes the violation, or
  • two people, from different physical addresses, can verify incident, or
  • there is photographic or video evidence (with clearly identifiable dog, date and dog's address).
